Congrats my friend! If you’re tuning in right now, I assume you’re curious about how to take all the knowledge bombs you’ve been dropping the last several months—or years—and turn them into an insanely successful course.
But you may be thinking:
“Where would I even start?”
“What topic would I cover?”
“How much work will it take?”
Luckily, you’ve come to the right place because I have the answers to your most challenging questions.
Just in the last several months (in the middle of a pandemic, mind you), I’ve launched two mind-blowing, income-generating courses—Email Marketing Launch Vault and Sales Funnel Secrets.
*insert shameless plug*
Not only do I love sharing my expertise in marketing by creating courses that get my coaching clients fired up about their business—while making money in my sleep—but I’m obsessed with teaching them how to do the same.
By teaching a topic you’re passionate about in the form of a course, you’ll not only prove to your dream clients you’re an expert in your industry, but you’ll have the opportunity to make passive income for years to come. You heard that right…years!
With that said, are you ready to download all those golden nuggets of genius inside your brain and turn them into a lead-generating, money-making, impact-creating course?
Well, that’s a hypothetical question because I already know the answer is, “heck, yes!” Grab a notepad and strap in, we’re getting started:
Do you know the difference between creating an insanely successful course instead of one that gets you crickets? Picking a topic that serves your audience in the biggest way possible. It’s easy to stick to a subject that gets you excited—and that is important—but you also need to think about what topic they WANT to learn about. Like any piece of content you create, it’s not about you—it’s about them!
Before determining what you should teach, you need to get inside your audience’s head and figure out their greatest needs. What do they struggle with the most? Do they have any pain points you can solve? What do your clients come to you the most for? By asking yourself the hard questions upfront, you’ll get a better sense of direction on what topic will get you and them fired up.
Okay, so you have an idea you THINK your audience will obsess over, but are they going to jump at the chance to sign up for your waitlist or countdown the minutes until you open the virtual doors? The next step in the course creation process is conducting market research to see if your idea will convert. There are many ways you can decide if your topic is worth creating an entire course around, but here are two of my favorites:
If there’s a lot of conversation and excitement around what you want to teach, then chances are your course will be a hit. And let’s be honest, we both know it will be.
Like any good teacher, you need a solid curriculum set before you can start sharing your genius with the world. This isn’t one of those, “I’ll do it on the fly,” moments because that won’t look pretty, and the course won’t provide the impact both you and your students want.
Before you spend hours brainstorming, see if there’s any content you’ve written that can be repurposed. Take a look at blog posts, articles, or freebies you’ve created—anything where you’ve mentioned the topic you’re about to teach. Then, start thinking about the most important thing in the course: the end result you want your clients to achieve. Between your market research, pre-written content, and your brainstorming session, you should have enough information to get started. To put everything into a cohesive course, begin grouping similar themes, tips, and ideas into modules.
Now that you’ve created an outline, you’ll need to record the videos that will live within your program. For each video, jot down some notes and conduct a few trial runs to ensure you are comfortable with the content and flow. You don’t need fancy gear to record your videos—nowadays, most recording tools are app-based.
Want to know my FAVORITE part about creating these videos? You can put your personality into it! Make sure your audience knows how fired up you are about what you’re teaching them. If you don’t sound excited about it, then why should they?
While building a launch plan is technically step 5, it’s really something you should do throughout the entire course-creation process to maximize the number of sign-ups you have. The weeks before opening your virtual vault, you want to get your audience drooling over the results your offer can provide them.
But when you’re finally ready to open the doors, you need to be prepared. Here are some of the things you should have in place before launching your course:
It’s easy to get so wrapped up in creating the offer that you forget about building a sales plan around it. But, I promise, if you do the work upfront, you’ll feel less anxiety throughout the launch—and you’ll make a lot more money. Hello, no brainer!
If you follow me on Insta (if you don’t, I’d love to connect with you!), you know I’m all about making money in my sleep or on vacation. Who doesn’t like to see dollars fly into their bank account without breaking a sweat?! Creating an evergreen sales funnel for your course will do exactly that.
It will create consistent month-over-month income without launch burnout. It’ll automatically convert your warm leads into paying clients long after your launch is over! Say hello to more money in your back pocket without all the work that goes along with it.
So there you have it, my step-by-step process to creating an insanely successful course that will help your business build passive income for years to come.
If this inspired you to create that course you’ve been dreaming about, then I want you to start with step one right now! No seriously, don’t wait any longer to show your audience how incredibly smart and talented you are in your industry. I know you have it in you, so you need to show the rest of the world.
P.S. Whew, that was a long one! If you’re still with me, I’m going to give you one of my best-kept secrets to save time and money when it comes to course creating. *drumroll please*
It’s Kajabi—an all-in-one platform that allows you to capture leads, host courses, post blogs, and everything else you need to make your course a stunning success! It’s. A. Lifesaver.
And when you use my affiliate link (I’m so grateful to anyone that does!), you’ll get an extended free trial—28 days versus 14 days.
